About the title “origin”
Origin: the beginning, source, cause, birth, or roots of something.
The title of this exhibition, “origin,” refers to the beginning of all things—the place where we were born and the source of life and memory.
We believe that it is not something found in a special place far away. Rather, it continues to exist unconsciously within the ordinary moments of our everyday lives, as naturally as breathing.
In this exhibition, each photographer carefully explores and expresses the often-overlooked “origins” found in everyday life from their own perspective.
Through a space woven together by these individual works, we pose a single “Q”—a question—to our visitors.

We invite you to spend a meaningful time encountering your own inner landscape while experiencing the diverse forms of “origin” portrayed through the distinct approaches of eight photographers.

We are “Q”
Things begin to move through connections between people.
Eight photographers of different generations, genders, and career backgrounds have come together through their shared connection to Kyushu.
Although each of us works independently as a photographer, this project began with the desire to connect with one another, generate new questions, think and act together, and discover perspectives that none of us could see alone.
Through our exhibitions, we aim to create opportunities to encounter art in Fukuoka, Kyushu, and to establish a place that connects and nurtures people and regional culture.
