Was it not the object itself, but the meaning I had placed upon it, that I valued?

People become attached to things they have endowed with meaning.
Perhaps the vessel is what holds those meanings.

And when attachment loosens, it returns to being simply what it is.

Statement

We give meaning to the things before us.
Memory, history, and emotion alter how things appear and shape our perception.

I, too, have viewed things in this way.

Yet the things before us have no need for meaning.

Meaning emerges.
And when the vessel has fulfilled its role, our attachment quietly begins to loosen.
